SiMPore Inc., a Rochester based start-up and the only commercial manufacturer of pnc-Si membranes in the world, won two business plan competitions over the last week. The company first won the Rochester Business Plan Competition which carried a $25,000 grand prize and automatic entry into the larger Golden Horseshoe Competition between top new companies from Buffalo, Ithaca, Rochester, and Waterloo, Ontario. SiMPore also won the larger competition which carried a $100,000 grand prize.

On April 1, 2008 UR/SiMPore began a NYSTAR-sponsored collaboration to commercialize pnc-Si membranes. The Technology Transfer Incentive Program (TTIP) award was one of only 2 University-based technologies supported by NYSTAR this year.
